Countering High-Tech Illiberalism

Today, the same digital technologies that connect people and enable a free exchange of ideas are being used to polarize and distort the politics of democratic societies. I created a series of custom illustrations for this research effort inspired by the panopticon: an early 18th century technology used in a prison allowing a single guard to monitor all prisoners. The tone of the illustration is meant to be both positive and negative. The shapes and composition create tension while the color palette is light.
