Early in my non-design career as an analyst working for the Navy I learned the importance of branding and design. People can and do judge a book by its cover. I observed this in so many meetings where very smart people struggled to help a decision maker understand their work. First I just wanted to help them with their power point presentations. Then I wanted to help even further and realized I needed more time to study design. I went back to school and obtained an M.A. in Graphic Design from George Mason University.
Currently, I’m the creative director for a national security think tank where I focus on expressing our brand through everything from printed reports to event backdrops to webpages and social media accounts. When I’m not making things “look pretty”, I love using design to help readers understand complicated topics, like war, budgets, and sanctions.
